For quite a few years there had been discussion/speculation about the re-formation of a 216 Squadron Association, this culminated at a 216 Sqn re-union, in 2009, where OC 216 requested volunteers to form a committee and resurrect the 216 Squadron Association. Many responses were received from ‘willing' volunteers (although some may say they were ‘pressed men'!) from which a committee was formed and the foundation firmly set in readiness to launch the 216 Squadron Association. Membership is open to all ranks, aircrew and groundcrew alike and includes both current serving and ex-members of 216 Squadron, hopefully capturing not just those of the Tristar era but those of the Buccaneer, Comet and all aircraft types associated with 216 Squadron a target that is ambitious but both achievable and worthwhile. The above is obviously not exhaustive and your committee welcome other suggestions to further the benefits of membership. The initial cost of membership has been set at £10:00, this includes a Certificate of Membership and a 216 Sqn Association pin / lapel badge, with an annual renewal fee of £5:00 due on 01 April each year.
